摘要
Watts Humphrey, working at the Software Engineering Institute, has dedicated his writings on the software process management and subsequent innovations in the field of software engineering. He has worked on Managing the Software Process, Managing for Innovation, and Managing Technical People. His books are dedicated to innovative technical software personnels and the role of managerial leadership in enabling those innovations. Humphrey has found through his studies that a project group working with freedom and with a limited interference of managers is likely to report highest innovations. Humphrey also emphasized that a key to a successful research and development is based on the persistent tendency of technical personnels to acquire a detailed understanding of users needs.
