摘要：

As profitability drives the increased use of resources in industry, there is a price to pay in increased wear and the subsequent failure of resources. Monitoring and diagnosis systems aim to predict failure, or if failure has occurred, they aim to identify the cause and help effect a timely and accurate repair. This paper looks at the requirements behind, and a potential implementation of, an architecture for monitoring and diagnosis software - using some of the latest tools and techniques developed in the field of computer science to tackle the problems that building such a system exposes.
