摘要
In this study, detection of basal cancer cell in the skin region at an early stage is examined by using photonic crystal fiber. The sample fluid of cancer-affected cells and normal cells in skin are taken in liquid form for test analysis which is filled in the cladding air hole that is optimized and smaller compared to the others. Based on variation of refractive index of sample, shift in loss spectrum is observed. Coupling mechanism transpires among the silica core mode and the cancer cell mode which reveals the spectral shift that is studied by using finite element method. The optimized cancer sensor accomplishes high spectral sensitivity of 10,000 nm/RIU for x-polarization and 14,000 nm/RIU for y-polarization. Further, they also gain a maximum resolution of 1.1 x 10(-5) RIU and 7.1 x 10(-6) RIU for x- and y-polarization, respectively. The sensor also reveals high birefringence of order 10(-3). Owing to the high sensitivity and high birefringence characteristics of the presented sensor, they would be a future potential candidate in bio-sensing and medical field.
