Study on the synthesis of linear carbon by the phase-transformation method

摘要
Linear carbon was synthesized by oxidative coupling of copper acetylide in benzene, which is termed the phase-transformation method. The quality, type and purity of the product were studied by IR and the thermostability of linear carbon was studied by DSC. The result shows that when benzene is used as the organic phase in the phase-transformation, most of the linear carbon is transformed into an organic phase. The product, whose copper content is as low as 1.22 %, was collected from the organic phase. It has a high purity and long chains compared with that synthesized in an aqueous phase. The DSC shows that beta-carbyne can transform into a-carbyne, and is expected to transform further into diamond at 364 degreesC similar to 408 degreesC
