Investigation of hydraulic losses in a centrifugal pump with low specific speed

摘要
The attainable efficiency of centrifugal pumps with low specific speed is mainly driven by the hydraulic losses. In current design processes a detailed evaluation of the hydraulic losses' location is normally not taken into account. Therefore, a method based on the irreversible entropy production is introduced to calculate the distribution and the location of the hydraulic losses. The determined losses are used for a focused investigation of the fluid flow field and potential design optimisation.
