One-dimensional unsteady flow computation in channels with floodplains

摘要
A new one-dimensional unsteady flow model is presented for overbank flow computation in natural rivers. This model takes into account floodplains acting not only as a storage volume but also as a river element carrying a fraction of the total discharge and interacting with the main channel. The model is incorporated in a hydraulic software and simulations are compared with an experimental case found in the literature.
