In order to tap the potential of energy saving in heat pump system driven by biogas engine,the second thermodynamic theory was applied in this paper to establish exergy loss model of each equipment. the analytical formulae about exergy loss and exergy efficiency in each equipment of the system were derived. For illustration, a detailed numerical examples of Biogas Engine-driven Heat Pump System was utilized. The results show that the exergy loss of biogas engine is maximum,which reveals the weak link of energy transformation of the whole system. The methods to reduce the exergy loss is analyzed, which provide powerful theory reference to improve and optimize the sewage source heat pump systems with biogas engine-driven.
