Alcoholism and drug abuse in schizophrenia

摘要：
There is growing evidence for substance abuse in schizophrenic patients being a major problem which obviously has a major impact on psychopathology and treatment of psychotic patients. In this review problems of differential diagnosis between alcohol resp. drug-induced and schizophrenic psychosis and important studies on the prevalence rates of substance abuse in schizophrenics are discussed. Finally some guidelines concerning pharmacotherapy and psychotherapiy of substance abuse in schizophrenics are outlined.
