Clinical evaluation of dental implant reconstruction of grafted alveolar clefts in cleft lip and palate patients

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical application of endosscous implants for management of grafted alveolar clefts. The evaluation vas performed on 6 patients (1 male and 5 females, mean age 25.2 years: age ranging from 19.7 to 30.3 years at first implant surgery with cleft lip and palate I. with unilateral cleft lip and palate and 2 with bilateral cleft lip and palate). Each patient received a pat ride cancellous bone marrow (PCBM) graft to close the alveolar cleft, After bone bridge formation, implant treatment was performed. A total of 9 implants were placed in the grafted alveoli. The length of implants ranged from 8.5 to 13.0 nun. In 5 patients with insufficient alveolar bone height, chin or mandibular ramus bone onlay grafting was performed 4 months before implant installment. The follow-tip period ranged from 1.8 to 7.3 years after implant placement. The clinical result was acceptable in all patients. The survival rate of implants was 100%. Implant treatment for grafted alveolar cleft was studied mid the outcome of treatment was acceptable.
