摘要
Exploitation and production of oil and gas involve significant human, environmental and economical risks. Everyday concerns Should we drill further down? Maybe inject more water? Why is the well producing these amounts of sand? rely on vast amounts of structured and unstructured information accessible in different formats, applications and platforms. This information is never perfect: there are missing/ unavailable information, inaccuracies and errors, in short, there are uncertainties tied to the information. Our primary question is, how do engineers - in practice - cope under these conditions? We contribute by (i) identifying tactics for making information credible and trustworthy enough for daily operations i.e. strategies to transform "mere" information into actionable information as well as (ii) drawing out practical implications of our analysis.
