Larox solid/liquid separation in hydrometallurgical processes

Larox has developed and provided solid/liquid separation solutions to various industries since 1977. The present product range is suitable for many modem hydrometallurgical process filtration steps, including those found in zinc refineries, laterite and matte nickel refineries, solvent-extraction/electro-winning (SX/EW) plants, copper refineries and lead electro-refineries, Larox has specialised in residue removal applications where efficient soluble metal recovery is important, and where water usage must be kept to a minimum. Usually, soluble metal recoveries will reach 99.5 %, water usage will vary from 0.5 to 1.5 m(3)/dry tome solids and cake residual moistures will range from 10 to 20 %. Larox Polishing filters may be used for thickener overflows, solvent-extraction feed or electro-winning feed solutions. Solids removal using the adsorption filtration technique results in high quality filtrate, with typically less than 10 ppm solids. Several practical examples are introduced with flowsheets and basic operational data.
