A place to think about women in german immigration: gender and identity in immigration museums in Southern Brazil

It discusses the process of building the german immigration museums in Rio Grande do Sul, with the questions of ethnic and gender identity as categories of analysis of places of memory of immigration. We are particularly attentive to the representations made by museums about women of german origin and how the expography and the ambiences of museums contribute to the affirmation of the social roles played by women in the context of german immigration in southern Brazil. We privilege critical reading of the museums of german immigration, trying to understand the mechanisms present in the process of creating places of memory of immigration, as well as the dissemination of representations about the history of german immigration in southern Brazil.
