摘要：

This paper traces the work of the EFOMP Education Training and Professional Committee from the inauguration of EFOMP in 1980 to the present time. The influence of the European Union on the training of medical physicists is discussed together with the aims of modern training schemes. Recent attempts to harmonise standards through recognition of National Registration Schemes are summarised.
