Impact of Optimization in Edge Detection using Adaptive Thresholding

Image has been processed to convert an image into digital form for implementing some of the operations on it, in order to get an intensify image or to excerpt appropriate information from it. To perform such operation the edge detection is one of the important method in image processing. Edges generally occur on the boundary between two different regions in an image. In this paper, comparative analysis of three prominent optimization algorithms has been takenup. The three algorithms considered are: Particle swarm optimization, Gravitational search algorithm and Genetic algorithm which are based on edge detection using adaptive thresholding. The performance evaluation of these algorithms is done in premises of Peak signal to noise ratio, Mean square error and Structural Similarity Index Metric.
