In most Recreation, Park, and Tourism degree programs, students need to complete an internship, either at the undergraduate or graduate level, in order to fulfill requirements associated with their program of study. Sometimes, among professionals working in Recreation, Park, and Tourism agencies and organizations, there is lack of a clear understanding about what a student internship entails, the responsibilities of an on-site supervisor, institutional and student goals and expectations, and the linkage with the academic supervisor hack on campus. This Roundtable presentation and discussion was designed as an opportunity for information exchange between professionals in the field, undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty with regard to student internships.
