摘要
Choosing a text and its interpretation as the main modality of revelation cannot stand unresponsive to the content of this revelation. For a text can only make sense standing out against a background - the blank - of nonsense or absence from which it emerges and gives a signal and a meaning. This background is not just something the text could overcome and forget in a perfect and total sense. As silence which carries and precedes any advent of meaning, it refers to a double nonappearance over which any text is stretched: the writer who has withdrawn from his writing, and the reader whom the text awaits without being able to give him. Through three biblical examples, we will show by what means this internal distension in any textual meaning forbids seeing in revelation the simple unveiling of a truth, because it becomes the heart of an ethical challenge that calls for the responsibility of each of us.
