Dynamic characteristics of decomposed granite soils in Korea

The dynamic properties are influenced by various factors such as strain amplitude, number of loading cycles, and degree of saturation etc.. Resonant column tests were carried out for granite soils with various relative density, degree of saturation and confining pressures. The samples were taken from the Kyounggi province in Korea. Chemical analysis and X-Ray deflection were performed to the sample. Test result and data have shown that the optimum degree of saturation at low amplitude is 17%similar to 19.5%. In this paper, modified experimental equation to predict shear modulus and coefficient of the decomposed granite soils under low amplitude were also proposed.
