摘要
A method for imposing mass conservation in limited-area models (LAMs) with non-conservative semi-Lagrangian advection is proposed. The key feature of the scheme is to estimate the budget of the total mass through the lateral boundaries by splitting the original field into interior and exterior areas and to advect them individually. Idealized and real test cases show the reduction in error of the total mass, especially in the case when a monotonicity filter is applied.
