摘要
The paper describes the kinematics and dynamics of the chip formation process during grinding. The description is based on hypothesis on the formation of the layer with the changed physico-mechanical properties in the wedge gap "grain-metal". During grinding, an additional cutting layer is formed on the operating element along with the formation of furrows and bulks by the grain front facet, located at an obtuse angle to the motion vector. Chip formation can be determined as a complex of simultaneously occurring processes: along with the formation of furrows and bulks by the grain front facet, located at an obtuse angle to the motion vector and there is the impact compaction and hardening of accretion volume of metal by made by the rising edge of the rear volume of the metal (or ground of blunt), followed by a shift and the separation of the compressed volume from the main mass of the treated metal. The separated piece of metal having increased strength and hardness is a cutting element itself being moved together with a grain. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
