Health-related quality of life children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Caldas, Colombia

摘要
Objective: to analyze the health-related quality of life of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus, in the department of Caldas, Colombia, during the years 2016 and 2017 and its relationship with sociodemographic and clinical variables. Materials and methods: quantitative, cross-sectional and relational study, with 96 participants, attended between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017. Kidscreen-27 questionnaire was used. Results: the dimension with the lowest score in health-related quality of life was "physical activity and health" (77.6+16.6) and the highest was "school environment" (7.6+12.1). It was found that age, sex and type of insurance to the health system have a statistically significant association with the best quality of life. 20.8% considered their state of health excellent, 30.2% very good, 36.5% good and 12.5% fair. In sociodemographic and clinical variables, the average age was 12.8+3.1 year 46.9% men, 53.1% women, 73.9% adolescents and 26.04% school children; 57.3% belonged to the contributory regimen. Average debut of the disease 8.8 years, 67.7% debuting with ketoacidosis. Average of glycosylated hemoglobin 10.45%. Conclusions: the dimensions of health-related quality of life best evaluated were "school environment" and "friends and social support". The group made up of men, in school stage and insurance to the contributory health system showed a statistically significant association with the highest scores in health related quality of life.
