Experimental study on suppression of methane flame propagating by water mist

摘要
Propagation of the gas flames under different water mist conditions and its interaction with water droplets were investigated in a transparent rectangular flame tube with a set of water mist devices. Photodiodes and digital video camera were employed to record the. flame propagation. The flame propagating velocity and flame front temperature under different water mist conditions were measured. In the experiments the phenomena of flame residence and flame stretching were. observed under certain water mist conditions. The results indicate that the suppression of gas flame propagating by water mist-is due to the interaction of water mist on the reactivity zone of the flame front because water mist can limit gas burning rate, prolong-the preheating bone of the flame front and prevent the heat and mass transfer.
