As Internet access has become more commonplace, the scope, content, and influence of the world of online publishing continue to expand. The most common use of the World Wide Web (herewith referred to as the Web) by traditional journals is still the distribution of material from the printed version. However, one of the advantages of Internet publishing is the inclusion of text and other media beyond the capacity of the paper journal.(1) Some editors have pushed this concept further, to the point of Web-only publication of original peer-reviewed material, never appearing "in print."(2)
