In two sections a short overview is given on developments in the field of occupational allergic diseases in the former GDR. Regarding medical expertising changes in the GDR-List of occupational diseases, increasing standardization of methods and statistical results are presented. The focus in the chapter on prevention lies on standardization of methods for occupational health surveillance, completed by some remarks on efforts for improvements in the field of primary prevention.
