摘要：
Access to meteorological, sea ice, and oceanographic (met-ice-ocean) data is essential for ships navigating in harsh and ice covered marine environment. Furthermore, the need for efficient monitoring of the ongoing climate change poses new requirements for the accessibility of this kind of data by researchers. This paper describes how new web technologies, such as SOAP and XML, are used in an implementation of the IWICOS Facade system, which delivers near real-time met-ice-ocean data to users at sea. The Facade is part of a service chain developed in the EU-funded IWICOS project (Integrated Weather, Sea Ice and Ocean Service System).
