LAXEIRO IN BUENOS AIRES. NOTES ON A LIFE AND ART JOURNEY

The stay of the Galician painter Laxeiro (Jose Otero Abeledo, Lalin, Pontevedra, 1908Vigo, Pontevedra, 1996) in Buenos Aires, where he settled from 1951 to 1970, was one of the most creative periods of his career and led to his professional consolidation. This text tells the life adventures of this universal Galician who, like so many others, built a bridge between Galicia and the so-called Galicia abroad. His relationship with the Galician diaspora and his gradual integration into the Argentinian art system allows us to trace his life experience and also the evolution of his work in that period, a work which has steadily been making a comeback to Spain since the eighties.
