摘要
The present paper deals with the main sources of teachers' burnout and its relationship with school social climate. This study was held in four low socioeconomic elementary schools, in Santiago, (Chile), as a part of a research project to analyze social school climate and the developing of strategies to improve it. Teachers burnout shows up as permanent headaches, backaches, gastrointestinal disorders, and other psychosomatic disorders. In the mental health domain, it is characterized by anxiety, irritability, hyperreactivity, sleep disorders, low motivation and disphoric mood. Those symptoms represent the most current motives for teachers' work absenteeism.
