Researches regarding the creation of new burley tobacco varieties with superior characteristics

The experiments had on aim, the realization of some major objectives in the intensive and lasting agricultural production area, through: A. The creation of new variations and hybrids with: raised production capacity precocity superior quality (big leaves, with porous, fine and elastic tissue, uniform orange and light red colored, with a lower nicotine and main nervure percent) B. The creation of forms resistant to: bad weather conditions (drought, early hoarfrosts and late frosts) tobacco specific diseases in the transplant phase (Pythium sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Thielaviopsis basicola) and on the field, to bacterial diseases (Pseudomonas syringae pv. tabaci), mycoses (Peronospora tabacina) and viral diseases (Potato's y virus) C. The creation of forms with raised adaptability capacity to the climatic, soil and ecological conditions, specific to the culture areas (the center and the north-west of Transylvania and the western area of the country)
