Authentic Photographs in Classes of German as a Foreign Language

The paper presents authentic photograph as an appropriate means of teaching foreign languages, which can be used to develop imagination and emotions of the learners. The paper discusses several examples of selection, editing and preparation of such photos for classes of German. In addition, several techniques are presented for the teachers to use in dealing with these photos in the classroom in a creative way. Last but not least, a research project is being presented which aims to capture the role of emotions in creative writing. It is a PhD thesis research, in which authentic photographs were used as emotional stimuli for writing in foreign language.
