Heat transfer in a rotor-stator system with a centripetal superposed flow

摘要
This investigation involves an experimental study of the thermal effects occurring in a rotor-stator system subjected to a radial inflow. Tests were conduced in an annular cavity with a low aspect ratio comprising a heated stator and unheated rotor. A technique for making simultaneous temperature and velocity measurements was used to provide radial and azimuthal mean velocity components, Reynolds stress components, temperature of air inside the cavity and also temperature and temperature-velocity correlations. Heat transfer coefficients were also measured on the stationary disc. The results at Reynolds and Ekman numbers fixed to Re = 1.44 10(6), Ek = 1.1 10(-4), Rossby numbers Ro varying up to 16.7 10(-3), show that it is relevant to consider as a significant parameter, they are found to be in acceptable agreement with the features of an asymptotic model.
