Antibacterial activity of seed extracts of Annona squomosa (L) against the pathogenic bacteria

摘要
Annona squomosa (L.) seed exracts were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against human pathogenic bacterial strain of Gram negative Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas, aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, Benzene and methanol extracts showed high activity against E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. All the extract were inactive against Streptococcus pyogenes. The use of essential oil from Annona as a potential antiseptic in prevention and treatment of bacterial infection has been suggested.
