摘要
To evaluate the effectiveness of an CIDR (Progesterone + Estradiol Benzoate) intravaginal releasing device for the treatment of postpartum anestrus, a total of 40 crossbred dual purpose cows received the CIDR and 20 cows were considered as control group without treatment. Cows were located in a dry tropical forest environment. Days open at the begining of the experiment were 154.2 +/- 24.7 and 167.9 +/- 16.5 days for the CIDR and control group respectively. Only 4 (10%) of the devices were not retained in the vagina. Estrus was observed in 30 (83.3%) of the treated cows and in 4 (25,0%) of the control group (P<.001), with 18 (60.0%) and 2 (50.0%) pregnant cows in each group respectively (P<.005). It can be concluded that the use of CIDR is an effective method for the treatment of anestrus in crossbred dual purpose cows under tropical conditions.
