摘要
Publishing in a medical-scientific journal is the core business of the researcher or teacher-researcher. More than a job, it is in fact a real mission consisting in disseminating the results obtained in the fields of clinical, basic, or translational research to the scientific community, to advance the lines of knowledge. Publishing is therefore a duty, but it is also a necessity because the performance in publishing conditions professional recognition and access to funding, without which research activity cannot continue. The evaluation of this scientific production still relies too much on bibliometric tools the limits of which have been officially recognized for many years. The procedure that leads from the idea of the work to its publication in a Journal is a long and exciting path, but one that is full of pitfalls that the researcher must anticipate and overcome step by step: early determination of the order of authors in accordance with their real investment, choice of the Journal based on several criteria, including the originality and possible extra-disciplinary scope of the results submitted, the language of the Journal, its reputation, its publication frequency and its speed of evaluation by peers. The interference of editorial financial stakes makes it more than necessary to develop open access to published data, the only guarantee of an immediate and large-scale dissemination of knowledge that belongs to the common good.
