摘要：

We describe the solution of an operational problem in flexible batch manufacturing. A novel fast-track, mixed industry/academic team-based approach was taken, with a view to exposing the industrial partners to the state-of-the-art in batch process engineering tools. Key features of the problem and solution approach are highlighted.
