Investigating the Influence of Rotation Speed on Ventilation System of Traction Motors to Driving High-speed EMUs

摘要
The power loss of traction motor causes a severe problem of heat generation. Ventilation system is one of the most significant heat dissipation components of the traction motor. In ventilating system, the motor design and subsequent thermal design is based on the air flow through ventilating ducts and stator-rotor air gap. In order to further clarify the influencing factors related to air flow rate, the simulation of ventilated-type traction motor was carried out with special emphasis on the connection of cooling air flow rate and rotation speed. This paper reports the results of the temperature rise calculations and air flow rate through the ventilating ducts and air-gap with speed variation, and summarizes the corresponding relationship.
