摘要：

On 17(th) December 2004, sixteen Griffon vultures (Gyps fulvus) were found dead on the Island of Rab, within a range of 50 metres. One additional vulture was found alive, but in moribund condition. In this paper, we present results Of pathological, bacteriological, virological, parasitological and toxicological analysis aimed at determining the cause of death of the birds in question. Based on these analyses and the clinical signs observed in the moribund individual, we diagnosed an acute carbofurane poisoning as the cause of death of the vultures. We discuss the possible impacts of pesticides on the endangered Griffon vulture population in Croatia.
