摘要：

The speech delivered by the expert in criminal law, and committed politician, Luis Silvela for the reception at the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences is the result of a desk-based research. Silvela offers new data on the introducer of Bentham's utilitarian ideas in Spain, relieving the traditional role assigned to the Count of Toreno by that of Toribio Nunez.
