Data clustering and image segmentation using Quantum-behaved particle Swarm Optimization algorithm

摘要
This paper focuses on exploring the applicability of the QPSO to data clustering and image segmentation. Firstly, we introduce the K-means clustering algorithm and the origin and the development of the PSO and QPSO. Then we present how to use the QPSO to cluster data vectors and segment an image. After that, experiments are implemented to compare the performance of various clustering algorithms and to show how to segment an image by the QPSO clustering. The results show that the QPSO can cluster data vectors efficiently as well as generate satisfactory results in image segmentation with tolerable time consumption.
