摘要
A concept to produce negative charges in the stratosphere to disable chlorine radicals in its catalytic destruction of ozone is presented: An outdoor experiment in the Arctic region is described which uses a 200J laser and a 2.7 m rotating mercury mirror to ionize atmospheric dusts to produce the required charges. This large dish will also function as a sensitive detector of the ozone profile using the DIAL method. The fast resolution of the ozone profile will enable us to better measure the effectiveness of our remediation concept. A LIDAR system assembled by Wuerker [1] makes this possible. A second concept is presented based on laboratory experiments that demonstrate the selective acceleration of CO2- at its ion cyclotron frequency in a divergent magnetic field, simulating the process of extracting CO2 as a minority species in the Arctic region. This experiment supports the concept [2] of using ion cyclotron waves to selectively accelerate unwanted species in the upper atmosphere. The natural free energy in the form of electron currents along the earth's magnetic field line can be channeled into supporting the excitation of these ion cyclotron waves.
