The major events in history are not always measured by their temporal extension, there are other basic factors that give the event its importance and value, such as the timing, or the place of its occurrence and the parties that participated in preparing its events, and there is also something important which is the impact that this event left on the movement post-date. Sometimes we may say that all the factors we mentioned were present in the incident of the occupation of Juhay man Al-Otaibiand his followers to the Grand Mosque on November 20, 1979.The place is the Holy Kaaba, which is the holiest of Islamic places, and the time was burdened with major and pivotal events at the regional and global levels. Starting with the Islamic Revolution in Iran that overthrew Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi and his regime, through the hostage crisis in the American embassy in Tehran that began on November 4, 1979, just two weeks before the occupation of the Great Mosque of Mecca,of course, such a major event has been dealt with by many researchers with study and analysis. Important studies have been issued, including what is in Arabic, such as Fahd Al-Qahtani's book, Juhayman earthquake in Mecca, and Nasir Al-Huzaimi's book: "Days with Juhayman: I was with the Al-MuhasbahSalafi Group." Including English-language studies such as the study of Thomas Haghammerand Stephen Lacroix: "Dissenting Islam in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: The Story of Juhayman Al-Otaibi," and YaroslavTrofimov's book: "The Siege of Makkah." These are excellent studies that reveal important aspects of the occupation of the Great Mosque of Mecca. However, in general, it focused on the subject of the historical anatomy of the Juhayman group and the study of its religious and social ideas and starting points, as well as the diaries of the siege, its events and effects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This research is an attempt to study this important page and its complexities in an impartial manner, based on a good set of American documents and reliable sources.
