摘要
The execution of Design Engineering as a mandatory Curriculum subject for the second year and third year students in Gujarat Technological University is reviewed. Design Engineering is a subject in view of design thinking methodology, which helps students observe and empathize with their surroundings to come up with innovative ideas and tackle the problems faced by society. The nature of Design Engineering as a subject and its effect on the undergraduate students' technical skills are considered. This paper puts forward the methodology of design engineering and investigates the effect of this novel approach on the development of projects made by engineering students. The authors present an overview of the course and a case study which explains how Design Engineering methodology works for solving problems faced by society.
