摘要
Supernovae of both types represent the most important nucleosynthesis contributors to galactic evolution and SNe Ia represent the major source of Fe-group nuclei. Our theoretical understanding is still burdened with many uncertainties, but the link between SNe Ia and exploding white dwarfs in binary stellar systems seems certain. The favored systems are accreting white dwarfs, approaching the (maximum stable) Chandrasekhar mass before contraction and central ignition. Major uncertainties are related (i) to the accretion rate in the binary system which determines the carbon ignition density, (ii) the flame speed after central ignition, (iii) a possible transition from a subsonic deflagration to a supersonic detonation and (iv) a,possible dependence of (i)-(iii) on the metallicity of the object or the accreted matter. The present overview tries to clarify the link between model uncertainties and their nucleosynthesis imprint.
