摘要：
College English curriculum reform in China has taken place in teaching mode, teaching methods, teaching objectives, learning content, course evaluation and other aspects. English as a Lingua Franca(ELF) has gained increasing attention among Chinese teachers and researchers. The paper introduces the concept of ELF and the situation of college English education in China. And then it focuses on what ELF implies for college English teaching, which includes reconceptualization of English Language Teaching(ELT), renewal of teaching objective and adjustment of teaching methods. It should be noted that the role of ELF should not be overlooked or exaggerated in college English education.
