Environmental programs:: Liberal arts colleges and interdisciplinary education

Common wisdom says it takes a village to raise a child. Isn't that just another way of saying that students require an interdisciplinary education to prosper and contribute to the world? It's certainly true for training students in environmental science, where the demand is increasing for broad experiences. But how do we educate these students without plentiful, sustainable amounts of time and money?
