The article focuses on the strategies of presenting presidential candidates in the selected Polish socio-political weekly magazines. The chosen magazines ("Sieci" and "Newsweek") represent different worldviews, political sympathies, and value systems. The main thesis concerns the assumption that there is a dualism in the visual strategies presented by the indicated weeklies. The multimodal analysis of the covers (from years 2015 and 2020) has been based on the ways of presenting the characters and the persuasive devices used in the process. As a result, an affirmative and a critical presentation have been distinguished and characterised.
