Study and optimization of the heat dissipater of thermoelectric refrigerator

One of the most important problems in a thermoelectric refrigerator is the need for considerable heat dissipation from the hot side of Peltier pellets, because the heat flow per unit area on this side is very high (similar to 40 kW/m(2)). In this work, a study and an improvement of the fins to dissipate heat from the hot side have been carried out. The parameters that have been studied are Peltier pellet position, fan type and position, dissipater basis thickness, and fin height. Subsequently, a prototype of a thermoelectric refrigerator has been built, using an optimized fin by means of the simulation results. The coefficient of performance has experimentally confirmed to have increased over 10%.
