摘要
The paper aims to examine the potential antecedents and consequences of work engagement among the sample of university teachers. Key antecedents of employee engagement considered in the study are rewarding co-worker relations, perceived supervisory support, compensation, and opportunities for development; while key behavioural consequences are in-role job performance, organisational citizenship behaviour and innovative work behaviour. A structural equation model is developed and tested on a sample of 282 university teachers in India. The results of the study found that the two major factors that predict the engagement of university teachers are opportunities for development and rewarding co-worker relations. The study further revealed that work engagement had a significant impact on all three consequences, i.e., in-role job performance, organisational citizenship behaviour and innovative work behaviour.
