A computer-aided laboratory experiment

This paper introduces the application of computer technology to support a laboratory experiment as laboratory work is a key component of any engineering curriculum. The paper presents the development of a computer-aided laboratory experiment, which involves both hardware and software. The software package developed includes the use of bar-codes for recording the student attendance, the utilization of multimedia to provide clear instructions and demonstrations of the equipment and procedure, and a database of questions and answers for assessing the student understanding. The developed system is designed to be user friendly and provides a pleasant environment to enhance the learning through practical hands-on experimentation.
