Treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the most common disease in the world which increases in number every year and also makes harmful effects on economy. For this reason National Hearth Lung Blood Institute (NHLBI) and World Health Organisation (WHO) established a collaboration named "The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). Its goals are to increase awareness of COPD and decrease morbidity and mortality from this disease. Since 2001, this organization has continued to publish worldwide reports every year about COPD. The aim of this paper is to review the recent attitudes of COPD treatment under the light of both GOLD and recent publications.
