Green information society in Hungarian economy

This paper focusses on the eco-awareness of Hungarian middle-size companies. The authors examined ecological aspects of decision-making on and actual usage of ICT equipment regarding various types of hardware (PC, server, printer) through the whole lifecycle (procurement, operation, and rejection) of these products. According to their findings, elaboration of an IT strategy at the companies is an important prerequisite of becoming "green" in this respect because it can help identify problems, and establish measurability of energy efficiency. Hungarian enterprises seem to be quite passive when it comes to eco-awareness and they are willing to deal only with the issues easy to handle.
