Seismic-hazard analysis of nonlinear multi-degree-of-freedom structures

The seismic hazard of nonlinear multi-degree-of-freedom structures was studied by incorporating nonlinear response factors in a conventional seismic hazard analysis equation. Simulated ground motions were generated using a proposed response spectral attenuation relation. Six structural models were analyzed and spectral reduction factors, F, were evaluated. The values off decrease as magnitude increases for the most cases. The standard deviations of the seismic risk evaluation functions are almost the same as those of the attenuation equation. The annual probability of failure of the structures in Tokyo and Osaka was evaluated.
